Resources

Over the past few years, a conglomerate of electronics
assembly organizations, in cooperation with the academic community,
have devoted significant resources to develop a set of specifications
that would standardize communications for the assembly industry.
The result was the IPC endorsed
CAMX standards, that define a framework in which equipment and applications
exchange data in XML format. Working with CAMX compliant equipment
enables manufacturers to select “best-in-class” equipment to build
an assembly line, without having to spend time and money adapting
heterogeneous equipment or having to confine a solution to a single
vendor.
eX-Mission CAMX Standard Middleware Suite for the
Electronics Assembly Industry
Rapidly reconfigurable manufacturing systems are a
key strategy in the effort to satisfy consumer demand for highly
customisable products while dealing with the problems of a high
mix, low volume, fast changeover production environment. The eX-Mission
Solution Suite provides the elements necessary to implement a fully
IPC-CAMX 2501 compliant plant-to-business information exchange for
the electronics manufacturing and assembly industry.

The GXML Driver
The Generic XML Driver function of the PTC-5821 embedded
controller can deliver real benefits in the manufacturing and process
domains where manufacturing execution is dependant on just-in-time
data exchange. Data exchange with an array of disparate legacy equipment
and native TCP/IP-enabled devices such as RFID Controllers, Bar
Code Scanners, Sensors, PLCs, and Robots etc can be seamlessly shared
directly with Enterprise Servers. The PTC Framework’s XML Message
configuration editors enable manufacturers to take full advantage
of XML as a universal data exchange, especially in applications
where total traceability, monitoring and reporting are required
i.e.
Production Management
Supply Chain Management
Warehouse Management
Control & Automation
Quality Systems
Easily and rapidly create/manipulate XML messages
as well as integrate them with the PTC-5821 data variables and control
programs without a detailed knowledge of XML. The GXML editor and
driver make it possible for someone with little knowledge of TCP/IP
and XML to set up an XML message exchange with a simple Server running
on a PC. In addition to general XML messaging the GXML Editor has
been designed to generate fully compliant IPC-CAMX 2501 messages.
